1
How much is single entry?
In both our centres for single entry, adults cost £11 and under 16 is £9. Shoe hire costs £3.
2
Do I need to book online?
No, you can just come in to either of our centres and pay on the door. If you are new to climbing you will be given a 10 min induction at the start of your visit. If you require a lesson, you need to pre-book an instructor for that. Contact us to book a lesson.
3
Is there a time limit on my session?
Sessions are not timed in either of our locations. You can stay for as long as you would like.
4
What is the youngest age a child can climb?
We don't have a strict age restriction because bouldering is more about confidence. Height can be a limiting factor for children. We say in our Dundee centre the routes are roughly suitable for age 4+ as we have a kids circuit. The Aberdeen Centre does not have a kids circuit, therefore the routes are only suitable for age 6+. Please read our supervision guidance below before coming in with under 14s.
5
Can I leave my child unsupervised to climb?
All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Inexperienced children aged 14 - 16 years must be accompanied by an adult (a parent or guardian) and supervised appropriately at all times whilst climbing. Those over 14 years can climb unsupervised if they have climbing experience. They must be able to display good climbing etiquette and be proficient climbers. Climbing adults (over 18 years) can supervise one child at a time, adults who are not climbing can supervise 2 children at one time. One adult cannot supervise more than two children at a time.
6
Do I need experience to climb?
No, over-18s do not need experience to climb. Bouldering is a sport whereby you need no equipment or certifications to give it a try. If you are new to bouldering our staff will show you what to do upon arrival (this is not a full lesson). This will be a very brief tutorial and safety briefing. If you want extensive guidance you are best to book an instructor-led lesson. You can hire climbing shoes from us for your session.
7
Is there parking on-site?
Our Dundee wall has access to on-street parking (please be aware this is restricted during football matches - this is sign posted on neighbouring streets). Our Aberdeen centre has it's own car park, customers are not charged to park, however please only park in the spaces marked B10 directly in front of the building and round the corner to the left hand side of the building at the back (our spaces are marked with lines).
Please refrain from leaving your car in the centre of the car park, as this blocks entry for emergency services, waste collection and deliveries. You will be asked to move.
8
Is it card-only?
No, we accept card and cash payments. We also sell gift vouchers which can be used in either gym.
9
Is my membership valid in both centres?
Yes, full direct debit memberships are valid in both centres (inc. standard, off-peak, concession, student and family direct debits). 5 and 10 punch passes are also valid in both centres because they are valid for one year.
All other PAYG passes are not valid in both centres (they are only valid in the centre you bought them from). This includes single entry and 4-week passes.
You can amend/cancel your membership by emailing memberships@block10.uk
Terms and conditions apply.
10
Are there restricted areas in the centres?
In both our centres, customers and members of the public are kindly asked to not go behind our reception desk. In the Dundee centre, patrons under 16 are not permitted on the cross-fit wracks, cable machines, fixed-weight machines or free-weight equipment for their own safety.
11
When are the quieter times to climb?
In both our centres, quieter times include during the day, on weekdays between 10am and 4pm. The evenings and weekends are usually consistently busy.
12
Can I wear my trainers to climb?
No. The only footwear permitted on the mats are climbing shoes. If you do not have your own, you can hire some from us. Other types of footwear or climbing bare-foot is strictly prohibited.
13
Are you pet-friendly?
Well-behaved pets are permitted in the Dundee centre but they MUST remain off of the mats. If owners allow their pets on the mats, they will be asked to leave. This is for safety purposes and strictly observed.
Pets are not permitted in the Aberdeen centre because there is no space for them.
14
How tall are the walls?
They are 4.5m in height, for this reason it is essential to make a controlled, careful descent when climbing. It is not recommended to jump.
15
Can I make a group booking?
In Dundee, group bookings need to be made in advance. Our supervision policy dictates that 1 visiting adult can supervise 2 under 14s climbing at one time. Therefore large groups of children climbing require that ratio of supervision unless they have booked an instructor-led session. This can be done by emailing dell@block10.uk. It is not possible to host large groups of under 14s in Aberdeen in the evening as the centre is too busy.
